About Us

We publish the AI view on software. Nothing more.

What we are

Verified Layer is an independent software intelligence organization that measures how leading AI models represent software products. Every month, we evaluate major software vendors using standardized assessments across ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini, then publish the results through a transparent, consistent, and publicly accessible scoring methodology.

We are not a marketing platform. We do not sell AI optimization services, manipulate model outputs, or accept vendor influence over our evaluations. Our role is simple: independently measure AI perception and publish the results.

No vendor pays for placement on our leaderboard. No analyst manually adjusts individual scores. Every covered vendor is evaluated through the same predefined methodology.

Why we built this

Software buying has fundamentally shifted from search engines to AI assistants. Today, procurement teams increasingly begin with questions like “what is the best CRM for our security and compliance requirements?” The shortlist they receive is often generated by large language models synthesizing information from thousands of sources across the web.

Traditional analyst firms, review platforms, and search-based ranking systems were designed for a web-search-centric buying journey. AI models evaluate software differently, drawing on a much broader set of public information, technical documentation, community discussions, product evidence, and market signals. Verified Layer was built specifically to measure software through the lens of AI-driven recommendation.

How the score is generated

Every covered vendor is evaluated monthly by executing 53 standardized assessment prompts across ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini, resulting in 159 independent LLM evaluations for every vendor during each scoring cycle. Individual vendor scores are generated automatically using a predefined methodology. Human reviewers do not manually adjust or override individual vendor outcomes.

Every evaluation measures eight core dimensions:

  • Product Quality
  • Market Reputation
  • Community Sentiment
  • Customer Experience
  • Technical Credibility
  • Value for Money
  • Innovation & Vision
  • Buying Safety

To provide a more meaningful assessment, Verified Layer separates two independent measurements rather than combining them into a single score.

Quality Score

Measures the capability, reliability, maturity, and overall effectiveness of the product itself, independent of company size or market visibility. A four-person startup can achieve a Quality Score comparable to that of an established enterprise vendor if the product demonstrates equivalent technical strength.

Presence Score

Measures how well established, discoverable, and consistently represented a vendor is across the global AI knowledge ecosystem, including documentation, public references, technical content, community discussion, and other publicly available signals used by AI models.

Our complete methodology (including scoring dimensions, weighting principles, evaluation workflow, and quality controls) is published publicly. A methodology that cannot be examined cannot be independently trusted. See our scoring methodology for the full breakdown of signals, weights, and anti-gaming safeguards.

Multi-model consensus

Single-model evaluations can be affected by hallucinations, temporal bias, or incomplete knowledge. Verified Layer addresses this by evaluating every vendor across multiple leading AI models rather than relying on a single system.

Scores are derived through cross-model agreement across OpenAI’s ChatGPT, Anthropic’s Claude, and Google’s Gemini. Consistency checks help reduce the impact of isolated model errors while providing a broader representation of current AI understanding: a more balanced assessment than any individual model can provide on its own.

Our principles

The integrity of Verified Layer depends on maintaining strict independence. Our operating principles are straightforward:

  • No paid placement: vendor payments never influence rankings or scores.
  • No sponsored rankings: we do not publish paid leaderboards, sponsored reports, or purchased awards.
  • No manual score manipulation: individual vendor outcomes are not manually edited or overridden.
  • No vendor influence: marketing submissions and commercial relationships do not alter the evaluation methodology or results.
  • Consistent standards: every covered vendor is evaluated using the same methodology, regardless of commercial relationship.

Transparency

Every published evaluation is tied to a specific scoring cycle and methodology version. As AI models evolve, vendor scores may change to reflect updated model knowledge, new public information, or improvements in the evaluation methodology. Historical results remain available to provide context and track changes over time. Transparency is fundamental to maintaining trust in an AI-driven evaluation system.

What Verified Layer is not

Verified Layer is an independent measurement platform. We do not certify software products, conduct security audits, replace enterprise procurement processes, or recommend purchasing decisions. Our purpose is to measure and publish how leading AI models collectively represent software products using a consistent, transparent, and repeatable methodology.

Software scored. Not sponsored.

Every ranking published by Verified Layer reflects a standardized evaluation of how leading AI models collectively understand a software product at a specific point in time. No vendor pays for placement. No analyst sells an opinion. No sponsored ranking influences the results.

We publish the AI view on software.
